Proposal for a Solar farm and energy system

Pennon Group is developing proposals for a solar farm and energy storage system, situated north of Dunfermline. The site was formerly an open-cast coal mine. The land has been fully remediated by the land-owner and it’s development now as a solar farm will be a major step towards a sustainable future for a growing city.

The project will be able to supply the electricity needs of over 10,000 homes at peak power

Pennon Group is exploring supplying cheap power to major local power users

Biodiversity is a key aspect of detailed project design

Community consultation is about to start

The proposals are at an early stage and, in December 2020, we submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Fife Council to start the important process of engaging with the local community while we continue our investigations and detailed designs. This website will be kept updated throughout the development process to keep the community informed on our plans and to receive feedback.

Pennon Group is a highly experienced developer and operator of on-shore wind, solar and battery storage projects

This project will represent the first investment in Scotland by this international group. The commitment of Scottish Government and local communities to a zero-carbon future has been key to attracting this investment.
